For decades, traditional braces had been the only option for adults who wanted straighter teeth. The Invisalign System offers the first true alternative, by utilizing advances in 3-D imaging technology to create a series of customized plastic aligners.

It all begins with a visit to Dr. McDade, who will help you determine what you'd like to correct. Next, Dr.McDade sends us your precise treatment instructions. Invisalign then uses its proprietary computer technology to create a sequence of finely-calibrated clear plastic aligners — as few as 12 or as many as 48 — depending on your particular case.

You'll wear each aligner for about two weeks, removing them only to eat, brush, and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next, your teeth will move-little by little, week by week-until they reach the final alignment Dr. McDade has prescribed.

How much does Invisalign treatment take and how much does it cost?

The duration and cost of the treatment depends on the severity of your particular case, which determines the number of aligners you need. Each aligner is worn for two weeks; you may need as many as 48, or as few as 12. Dr. McDade will determine the length of your treatment.

How often must I wear my aligners?

You should wear your aligners all of the time, except to eat, brush and floss — or as directed by Dr. McDade.

Are there restrictions on what I can eat or drink?

Generally, no. Unlike traditional orthodontics, you can eat or drink anything you want, because you remove your aligners while eating. You shouldn't have to cut anything out of your diet, unless instructed to by Dr. McDade.

How often must I see Dr. McDade?

Your appointments will usually be scheduled about once every six weeks.

Will the treatment be painful?

Most people experience tooth soreness for a few days after starting each new stage. This is normal. The soreness will gradually go away in a few days. If it doesn't, contact Dr. McDade promptly.
